"Playing with the Birmingham Black Barons, at South Carolina State University and in the U.S. Army were the highlights of my baseball career."

Professional/Personal Accomplishments:
"As a graduate of South Carolina State University, I was a teacher for 31 years. I also coached baseball, basketball, football and track. In 1959, I started the first little league football team for blacks in Greenwood County, South Carolina. The following year, I organized the first little league baseball team for black children in Ninety Six, South Carolina. In addition, I was instrumental in organizing sports clinics for girls, and founding the Hall of Fame Club in Greenwood County. As a deacon, choir member and soloist, I am very active in my church. I also, mentor children at Ninety Six Elementary School."
