Allen played with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1957 under the leadership of manager Dizzy Dismukes and owner Ted Rasberry. Allen, one of the Monarch's top batters, averaged .295 on 41 hits in 139 trips to home plate that year.
Professional/Personal Accomplishments:
"In 1960, I was drafted into the U.S. Army. I played baseball and football while stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. When I returned to Norfolk, I coached baseball and football for five years. I worked as a longshoreman for six years. Then, I owned a carpet store for five years. Currently, I am working as a tile setter."
